Biographic information about the Norwegian curator and director at the Henie-Onstad Art Centre Tone Hansen

Tone Hansen is the Director of the Henie-Onstad Art Centre in Høvikodden, near Oslo. Previously she worked as a research fellow at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo for four years. In her theoretical and curatorial work she has focused on various implications of what public means and how history is written and presented. One of her topics is the role of art museums, particularly focusing on alternative forms of organisation and activism but also on governmental structures and how they influence the role and function of a museum etc. – The New Administration of Aesthetics, 2006 (an anthology), The Megamonstermuseum. How to Imagine a Museum of Today? (an exhibition and a publication), 2007, and, most recently, Re-staging of the Art Museum, 2011. Tone Hansen contributed to Maria Lind’s reader European Cultural Policies 2015: A report with Scenarios on the future of public funding for contemporary art in Europe, 2005.
