Biographic information about the Polish artist Janek Simon
Janek Simon (born 1977, lives in Krakow, Poland) employs and experiments in his work with scientific theories as well as such disciplines as geography and economics. Facing the totalising aspirations of global culture and production to involve ever-wider aspects of reality, Simon attempts to expose cracks in systemic knowledge, celebrating the absurd, chance, exceptions and rare, improbable trajectories.
His solo shows include: National Budget for 2010, Państwowa Galeria Sztuki, Sopot, Poland, 2011; The Sea, Raster, Warsaw, Poland / Arnolfini, Bristol, UK, 2010; Tristes Tropiques, Platan Gallery, Budapest, Hungary, 2009; Fuga, Galeria Arsenał, Białystok, Poland, 2008; Gradient, Bunkier Sztuki, Kraków, 2007; Fire in a Firebrigade Headquarters, Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw, Poland.
