Biographic information about the Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen

Koen Vanmechelen (born 1965 in Belgium) has exhibited at numerous museums and galleries around the world, including Washington, Miami Beach, London, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Stockholm, Munich, Düsseldorf and Herford. He was represented at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and the Biennales in Poznań, Dakar and Moscow. As part of the official Venice Biennial 2011, his striking project Nato a Venezia at the Palazzo Loredan includes a site-specific installation combined with interactive research projects in collaboration with universities. This autumn his work is on display at the Biennale in Moscow and the Triennial in Guangzhou, China. Next to exhibiting, the artist is involved in numerous talks, conferences, artistic-scientific projects and foundations.
