Henie-Onstad Art Centre, Høvikodden / Oslo

posted by: Tone Hansen

The Henie-Onstad Art Centre is one of the foremost platforms for the development of new forms of expression within the fields of music and dance, as well as the visual arts.

The Henie Onstad Art Centre was inaugurated in 1968. The institution has its own collection, is housed in a specially designed building and has a focus on contemporary art and culture. Due to its activities and programs of cross-disciplinary projects, the Centre is one of the foremost platforms for the development of new forms of expression within the fields of music and dance, as well as the visual arts. The Centre aims to distinguish itself as a major arena for alternative art practice, in the same spirit of openness and inclusiveness that marked the opening of the institution 40 years ago. It wants to broaden the scope of its activities in dialogue with young artists from different fields and ethnically diverse backgrounds. It is a priority for the Art Centre to offer a broad program of exhibitions and other events that reflect what is happening in the Norwegian art scene as well as internationally.
